Artist Statement

One, One Thousand… is a window into the challenges and mystical wonders of lifelong care experienced by my sister and nephew. Its title references counting the length of a seizure. Seen through multiple artistic interpretations, we expose the impact a rare and incurable form of epilepsy (Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome) has on a mother and son. Accompanied by my sister’s handwritten narrative, the work reveals the inner and outer worlds of Lori and David. It is an alchemy of life framed with love.
