My connection to epilepsy is through my sister. After having a large benign brain tumor removed at age eight, she developed epilepsy and lived with seizures for 27 years. In 2025, after extensive testing and three surgeries, she became seizure-free. Watching her persevere through decades of challenges and finally experience that freedom has been incredibly inspiring. Her journey has deepened my appreciation for resilience, hope, and the strength we can find in difficult moments.
For many years, painting was an outlet during times of stress or when life felt overwhelming. While it still serves that purpose, my inspiration has shifted toward joy, positive energy, and gratitude. Art gives me a space to explore, reflect, and create without expectations, and I hope my paintings encourage others to slow down, embrace the unexpected, and find beauty in the process.
I am most inspired by the creative process itself. I love experimenting with color, texture, composition, and layers, then watching something unexpected emerge. I don’t always know where a painting is going, and that is part of what I love. I trust the process and allow the work to evolve naturally.
I created my first abstract painting at age three or four in 1989, and more than three decades later, abstract art remains how I express myself. I was born and raised in the Chicagoland area and now live in Colorado. I graduated from Colorado State University in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in art education.
I have sold more than 130 original acrylic abstract paintings, with my work finding homes across the United States, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Sweden, and Sicily.
