Artist Statement
Ojizo Sama with Kintsugi heart: Ojizo Sama are found throughout Japan. He is considered a patron and guardian of the vulnerable, especially children and travelers. As a symbol of compassion and charity, he is a comfort to all.
The Kintsugi Heart reminds us that our scars, visible or invisible, are proof that you have overcome difficulties. By marking your history, they demonstrate you’ve survived and enriched your soul. Transform fault lines into lines of force, and turn life’s unexpected bursts, into bursts of laughter and hope.
Nancy is the Founder and CEO of Henry’s Heroes Foundation. Her son, Henry, who lives with epilepsy, is her inspiration for the foundation. She has previously held the title of Chairwoman of the Board of the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago.
