2022 Scholarship Awardees

Lillian Griffith
Widener University, Pennsylvania
Epilepsy has impacted my life in many ways, including my path to college. My goal is to study biomedical engineering to perhaps improve technology for epilepsy treatment. After my diagnosis of epilepsy, the constant EEGs became tiresome, and the medication changes were frustrating. I hope that someday I can help others the way I was helped. That maybe, just maybe, I can aid in the research of epilepsy.

Dylan Fox
Lincoln College of Technology, Indiana

Being diagnosed with epilepsy at age nine, I have never let it hold me back from my goals. I love taking things apart and putting them back together. I’m excited to attend Lincoln College of Technology to further my dreams. This scholarship will help me to obtain my goals.

I aim to attend medical school and become a neurologist to help others like me, who have epilepsy, overcome their disorder so that we can live in a world where epilepsy is not as frightening. I want to be able to contribute to studying epilepsy so that we can live in a world where epilepsy is normalized. I want people to hear my story, share and teach the lessons I have learned from my experience,  and give other patients hope for a brighter future.

Linda Sudlesky
Boston University Metropolitan College, Massachusetts

My goal is to design and develop asynchronous online training for employees of group homes and other residential care facilities. This program, Seizure Management in Care Settings, is designed to offer an eLearning module that will make this training more feasible to implement. It will also prepare staff to learn the skills necessary to help people living in these settings receive the best possible health care for their epilepsy.”
