For 36 years, Ms. Deal has been managing her epilepsy, which started at age 19. She has survived and conquered decades of medication trials, brain surgery, a brain tumor, and a VNS implant. She uses mixed media to explain what a person with epilepsy sees and experiences during a seizure. Her artistic goal  is to pull others in with the visual representations to help them better understand and discuss the disease.
