As founder of Hidden Truths Project ten years ago, I greatly appreciate the value of art’s function as a creative narrative to share lived experiences from the inside-out.
Arts uniqueness lies in its ability to communicate complex internal experiences. It can express a message to the outside world, accessible regardless of one’s written or spoken language, cultural, social, educational, or economic background. Art allows for these abstract occurences to be made visible to fill the need for communication by completing gaps in knowledge. It provides an emotive connection to the rest of humanity in the face of diversity.
‘masked faces-the hidden stories’ is a dedication to the many individuals who have crossed my path, who hide behind their diagnoses or barriers society has imposed upon them. It is to reflect the hidden, anonymous faces we encounter in life. Behind each of the masked facies, there is a story worth telling!
“The experience of art is a form of knowing and a means of conveying truth.” Alexander Baumgarten, 1750
